Notes:

This mural shows a lantern-carrying shrouded individual looking down on campus from a hill of indiscernible objects. Not much is known about the origins of this mural but it evokes lots of icons that can be traced back to the band "Led Zeppelin". Starting with the obvious, the "ZoSo" caligraphy in the middle right of the mural is a common text associated with Led Zeppelin. There is also a lyric from "Stairway to Heaven" at the top of the mural: "There's a feeling I get when I look to the west and my spirit is crying for leaving". This lyric is particularly evocative because campus is divided down the middle, leaving an East side ("dormside") and West side ("academic side") of campus. Lastly, the lantern-carrying individual is taken from the inner sleeve of "Led Zeppelin IV" (1971). The inner sleeve is shown as the second photo in the carousel. It is believed that the band co-opted this image from a common character of tarot cards: the Hermit.
